December

I love this time of year when people are thinking about one another more than normal.

Last night Bill and I hosted the appetizer part of the progressive dinner for my school. We had so much fun. Cris drove one of the schools buses from house to house. The bus was decorated with green lights.

Soup and salad were served at another teachers house, dinner was served at the directors house and dessert was served at one of the assistant directors house. After dessert we exchanged white elephants gifts.

Don't loose focus that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Time flies by

I've been trying to make the most of every day. It shook my world when I came home from school last week and Bill told me a young man from our church had died. How can this be he was only 22 years old.

Having fun

Tomorrow I get to start my day with a visit to the optomerist before going to school. At school I'm having my picture taken to replace the picture taken three years ago. I've been practicing my smile in the mirror.

On Saturday morning I'll be spending five hours at a teachers seminar to get my last five credit hours for school.

Sunday morning Bill and I will be joining our neighbors at 7:00 a.m. for brunch while watching the hot air balloons flying over the neighborhood. I hope the rain holds off.

Random thoughts

As I go through my daily life I continually realize how blessed I am.

I hope my family knows how much I love them. When I was a little girl all I wanted to be was a wife and mom. God has answered my prayer.

Back home

Well were back in lovely Texas where its still 100 degrees.

Our suitcases are unpacked and groceries have been bought. I guess its time to get back to business. As of tomorrow I'll be at school from 9:00 to 6:00 with an hour and a half lunch break. No more working 11:00 to 6:30 with no sanity break. :)

I'm happy to be back at home to help Patricia out. One arm is in a sling and the stitches on a finger on the opposite hand. Thank goodness her faced didn't get messed up and she didn't get hurt worse.

Friday

This morning we went to town to run some errands. I've been intrigued by a sign that has been catching my eye for the past two weeks that says "Fresh Strawberries." Bill being the best husband in the world followed the signs through unknown parts of town until we found the strawberry farm. There energetic young men picking strawberries.

We are now in the process of making homemade strawberry jam. I love making homemade edibles. :)

Vacation

When its fifty degrees there's nothing better to do than bake cookies. The final count was 83 cookies. We delivered cookies to neighbors to make their day sweeter.

Bill caught the first keeper of the year. We saw a northern pike out by the front reeds unfortunately he wasn't interested in our bait.

The next day Bill had good luck again. The fish I was catching were a joke.

We made two trips to the Farmers Market to buy killer zucchini's so we make zucchini relish for the year. Bill was disciplined by the farmer for mishandling the zucchini's and possibly bruising them! We didn't it was possible to injure squash.

Yesterday I had a lesson on how to drive the row boat using the trolling motor. I'm happy to report that neither Bill or I fell over board and I only went in circles for the first five minutes of the lesson. My hat is off to Bill he makes controlling the boat look easy. :)

Summer time

Its already 94 degrees here in Texas. I don't want to think about what the temperature will be in July and August. We have to keep sun screen applied to the toddlers numerous times a day and keep them hydrated.

Friday was promotion day at school. The mature 2 1/2 years old girls moved to the Preschool 1 room. Two boys were supposed to move up its sad to say they weren't ready. Now we now have eight new toddlers that have to get a comfort level at this school.

Another week

The scare of the swine flu has passed at school. Now we dealing with toddlers having strep throat
numerous times and outbreak of head lice. I have nothing to fear with dealing with head lice because hair dye kills them on the spot. :)

The big excitement in the toddler room this past Wednesday was when one little boy didn't want to handover one of the two hard plastic airplanes he was playing with. Sharing wasn't an alternative but hitting the other boy in the head was. Its amazing at the amount of blood that comes out of a toddlers head. There weren't any stitches needed which was more surprising.

Today I spent five hours in a training seminar. I have to have a total of fifteen credit hours per year at this school and I don't like to procrastinate. Ten credit hours down and five to go.

A easy week

Thanks to the scare of the swine flu the number of toddlers that have ventured out to school has dropped. There's usually twenty seven toddlers in all. Yesterday there was only seventeen.

Instead to taking care of the little cuties we've been sanitizing toys and bleaching naps mats. It looks like a hospital when you walk in the front door of the school with having three huge bottles of hand sanitizer.

Hopefully people will stop freaking out and life will go back to normal. Whatever the meaning of normal is.

Happy Easter

I don't think there were any sonrise services in Plano this morning. It rained all night long. Will, Patricia, Bill and I went to the first service at our church to be the crowds.

This afternoon were having our Easter meal with seven families from our church.

Back to work

My blog isn't as exciting as Michelle's. I start my day at 6:30. I work out on our W11 fit and then walk three miles around the neighborhood or go walking with Bill.

Most days I work from 11:00 to 6:30. It gives me time to get things done around the house. There have been numerous days that I have worked from 8:45/9:00 until 6:30 with a long lunch break. I am back at the school I taught at for almost 2 years. After a much needed sanity break the director begged for me to come back to school and continue working with my original toddler class.

Bill and I are enjoying having a culinary student living in our house. Patricia has been making fantatic dinners. I love being her sous chef.

More time

It was so much fun spending last night with Tracy and Patricia. They kept me laughing.

I'm waiting to hear about Tracy meeting Jacob for the first time. I know he is going to melt her heart with his cuteness.

Occupation

I wish I knew what the future holds for me in the working world. I've been reading want ads for days at end and nothing is catching my eye.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that the right job will present itself.

March 2,

A year ago I thought I was going to have to say good bye to my husband of 30 years. I didn't have any knowledge of what a stroke what and how it affected a love one.

Today I praise God that Bill's stroke was mild and we continue on.

Back in P-Town

Our week in Arizona went by too quickly.

Now that were back home I have to redirect my thoughts to what type of job is in my future.
I had a lead about being a nanny but that didn't go any where. At the suggestion of my neighbor I've filled out an application on line to work with special need children or as a teachers assistant at the local elementary school. I passed up the chance to assist the PE teacher. It wasn't my faviorite subject when I went to school.

I hope there's an opening just right for me. I can only reorganize things here at home so many times. At the end of the day Bill has been informing me of how many times I walk through his office to get to the trash cans to throw things away!

Back to Arizona

I've written a letter to my exucutive director expressing to her that I will be taking next week off no matter what. I want to cuddle with Jacob again and for longer that 2 1/2 days. If my boss is gracious and lets me have the week off cool if not so be it.

Family is # 1 and that will never change.

If people thought that I was like a mother bear protecting my four children you better watch out for Grandma Deb.

January 28

Texas has been hit by an ice and sleet storm. Eight hundred schools are closed but not the school I work at, we are opening three hours later than normal.

Patricia, Will, Bill and I were hoping the storm would hit when we were out celebrating Patricia's 21st birthday. The sleet hit once we were safely at home.

Patricia and Will's have ice icicles on them its not something you see every day here.

Ticket to ride

I'm counting the days until I get to meet Jacob William.

Bill and I are looking forward to midnight feedings so the new mom and dad can catch up on some missed sleep.
